
About me
Elsa Calderón Pina was born in 1996 in Madrid (Spain).
She began to play the piano at the age of 6 years in the School of Music Maestro Gombau in Getafe with Eleuterio Domínguez. and a few years after she would start taking regular lessons with Ana Guijarro, Professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid.
At age 8 she made her debut in the International Piano Competition in Sant Andreu de la Barca, Barcelona ( 2004), where she won the first prize, which got her started on a career.
This gave her the opportunity to attend other competitions such as the International Piano Competition of Santa Cecilia in Segovia where she got her a special Mention (2004) and first prize (2005).
She has won first prices at national and international competitions such as: the Intercentros Competition Madrid in the elemental, and two professional categories (2005,2007,2009); in the Piano Competition of Manresa (2009); in the Piano Competition "Marisa Montiel" in Ciudad de Linares (2009) and at the International Competition Ciudad de Carlet (2010).
Moreover she obtained second prizes in the Piano Competition Infanta Cristina twice consecutively ( 2006, 2008 ); in the Piano Competition Veguellina Órbigo , Leon (2010) and in the Youth Piano Competition " Jacinto Guerrero " in Toledo (2011)
Besides her passion for solo work she also participated and won the first prize in the Intercentros Competition Madrid in the category of chamber music , string and piano trio ( 2008); and in the Chamber Music Competition of Schools of Music between Ciempozuelos and Getafe , Madrid (2008 )
In June 2007 , she received a grant from the Musical Tertulia " Tomás Marco" Casino de Madrid. In this act , she gave a piano recital with pianist and professor Ana Guijarro.
She is a professor who played a crucial part in Elsa's musical development and who mentored her in her first years on adapting to the musical environment.
To this date she has performed numerous times in her home town, Madrid, in places such as in:
The National Auditorium of Music, The Royal Theatre, The Romantic Museum, The Moncloa's Cultural Centre, at Escuela Superior de Canto, Canals' Theatre, Casino and Parliament, as well as Classical Radio National Radio of Spain.
At a national level she has performed at the Carlos III University and the "Federico García Lorca" Getafe, Teatro Kursaal in Manresa (Barcelona), San Sebastian City Hall, Theatre at the XXXI International Music Festival Segovia, in the Carmen Conde Cultural Center Majadahonda and Espriu Casal Barcelona.
Internationally speaking, she has given concerts in St. Stephen's Church Hall in St. Albans and the Festival in Pinner Pinner Parish, London. She has also performed at the Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall London (Southbank Centre), the Fazioli Hall Sacile, Italy, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow.
In 2012 she obtained a scholarship from the Plan of Music and Dance of the British Government to enter The Purcell School, a school for young musicians, where she studied with the Professor Patsy Toh.
Later on, she furthered her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she graduated in 2019 with Peter Bithell and Laura Roberts.
